Today is the last day for Backpacks for Brazil…
This has been one of the biggest projects that I've pursued this year. Starting this initiative to raise backpacks for the children of Escola Aberta, I had doubts that I was going to achieve my goal of raising 200 backpacks in 21 days.
During these past few weeks, though, I cannot believe the amount of support and positive feedback that I've gotten from everyone. I can't even deal right now...
Here is an update on the numbers:
We've raised $520 from the crowd funding website.
I have 120 backpacks in my room.
My former high school and family back in Houston are holding onto more backpacks.
With the money from the profit share with Rio's Brazilian Cafe, we'll be able to purchase any additional backpacks needed if not more…
Backpacks are still trickling in from everywhere….
I can OFFICIALLY say that this project has been a success!
THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR BEING LOVELY HUMAN BEINGS AND SUPPORTING ME.
You have no idea how much it means to have the UT-Austin-Houston community come together to help me with a cause that I believe in. This is going to mean so much for the children over there, and I can't wait to deliver the backpacks!
I'll be sure to keep everyone updated on what I'll be up to in Brazil! Thanks again and know that I appreciate everything that you've all done.
